Mail BagMail Bag (formerly Feedback) is the place where you can express your thoughts, ideas and opinions. These messages should be small when possible and should be limited to MWM and M. MWM will not print flammatory messages unless the full name and e-mail address of the person sending it will also appear with the message. Entries may be edited. Unless you specifically specify, we will not print your details. Send your e-mail to chribonn@softhome.net. Let's get M Listed I sent the e-mail but didn't get a reply. Are these e-mails correct? MWM:If you did not get a note telling you that the addresses are invalid, than they are correct. The Microsoft system is really complex. Is there an e-mail alternative instead? MWM: We are trying to find one. May I suggest a petition (maybe through MWM) so that we can get M listed in these electronic encyclopaedias. Great Job on your M campaign. The M community needs someone like MWM. I've sent in the message to the three companies, but didn't any reply. What should I do now. MWM: Send the e-mail again and again and again and again... Our e-mails seem to be getting the "ignore them" treatment. What do we do now? MWM: Send the e-mail out again, if need be daily. If anyone has an e-mail address for Microsoft please let us know it. Full details are at the M Campaign Page. Problems I am encountering a very annoying error whenever I try to access MWM. Everything's fine at your Home Page, but shortly after arriving at ...7041/mwm.html, I get a dialog box reading: Application Error integer divide by 0 and only a "Close" button, which, closes my Netscape 2.01 down. I am using Windows for Workgroups - perhaps that's relevant. I would very much like to read the MWM - is there any other way I can get to it? Or could you let me know if/when you are bale to fix this problem. I haven't encountered this anywhere else on the Web. MWM: Try the non-cookie version of MWM. This is http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/7041/mwm.html. As from issue 004 we will be removing all the code from the index pages so that readers will be able to select the version that suits them best. MWM is optimized for Netscape Navigator 3.x or higher and Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.x and higher. All said, the non-cookie pages should work with practically any browser. I can't view the larger version of the MFreeZone pictures with Microsoft Internet Explorer running on Windows 95. Everything else works fine. The MFreeZone page gives me an error when I try to view the larger version of the pictures. Can you help. MWM: We have corrected this problem. I can't see the larger version of Martin Benoit, Emvin Mifsud and Joe Camilleri's work. I use Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.02. MWM: We have corrected these problems and they should work with any browser now. MFreeZone Emvin Mifsud's photos were so beautiful. I decided to book my next holiday at his country. Could you please keep this page in your great magazine. I spent 4 years based in Malta during World War II. These photos by your MFreeZone artist Mr. Mifsud have revived some of the memories of my time there. Keep this section going. Your MFreeZone pages are simply fantastic. We would like to acquire rights to some of the work shown in MFreeZone. Could you please tell me how to go about this. MWM: All work in MFreeZone is normally copyrighted by the authors. Contact them directly. My husband's parents are Maltese though we have never been to Malta. Connie Bonnici's page is really great. I am looking forward to the next issue of The Maltese. Great magazine. Joe Camilleri's photos are out of this world. They are simply stupendous. Your MWM pages are really cool. Great Job Congratulations for you page, I'm a M developer from Brazil. MSM I would like to thank the guys and gals at Micronetics for making available the free Student Version of MSM. We appreciate your helping the M community. I downloaded the Student version of MSM/Student only to notice that it will expire later this year (October). Will this version be extended? The Micronetics version of MSM expires in October. What then? MWM: Micronetics have informed us that they will be updating the student version. Is there any reason why MWM only promotes Micronetics products? MWM: MWM promotes the products of any company that communicates with us. When we came to select the product for our Tutorial we evaluated what was on the market and opted for MSM because we felt it is the best freely available product on the market. I tried downloading MSM/Student the way that you outlined and got a nasty gram from Micronetics stating that because of abuse, that service (FTP) was no longer available. With the help of our systems guru, we anonymously FTP'd Micronetics sight and looked in the misc directory for EXP1 and EXP2.zip. We didn't find either. Just thought I would pass this on. Otherwise, this sight has proven useful to me in my M education. MWM: We are investigating this. The ftp location has been changed and we will be updating our links soon. Macintosh I am trying to get a M package for the Macintosh. Any ideas on how that could be done, or is it even possible. Thanks, Dan Corfman corf@ix.netcom.com or dcorfman@epicsys.com GUI Can you put online a tutorial for the GUI version of MSM. The trend lies in GUI development and such a tutorial would a sure hit. Can MWM consider adding a GUI M tutorial to its titles. Chris, How about launching a tutorial for the GUI version of Micronetics or Intersystems? MWM:Check out the story about Micronetics. Thank You Thanks to everyone who supports MWM. MWM: Not a bad idea. Just a little note to let everyone in the Thank You page know that their help is immensely appreciated. Thank you to the "Thank You" folk. Frequency It simply takes too long between issues to make the Tutorial effective. Do considering making this section more frequent. Another e-mail in support of the two month MWM. It's great but three months is simply to long. Make it bimonthly!!!! Cookies I read your Commentary about Cookies. Justifying cookies simply because you use them won't change my mind. You fail to mention one important thing in your discussion about cookies; the surfer's rights. I applaud MWM's approach to provide two versions of the magazine. I applaud the idea of putting online two versions of the page, but would like to suggest that the index itself not be cookie sided. MWM: Done Your cookie commentary was fantastic. We first expect functionality and more features from companies and then block them the moment they ask for a few bytes of our disk space (to be able to provide this service). I agree with every word in the cookie section of your commentary. But look at how many people are now well off thanks to this scare. I really liked your commentary. In my opinion this is the most accurate explanation of what cookies are all about and help to clear the murk caused by others. Can you give explain what Push Technology is all about? The cookie article in the commentary has cleared lots of hype on the subject. This is what I call informative journalism. Under Age I would like to suggest that you open a page for young people in M Web Magazine. MWM: The MFreeZone section will consider the work of anyone including children and teenagers. Check out this issue.
