All Scouts and Leaders turned up at the Scout Hut at 6:00 p.m. (British Time). We all collected our S&S Sweatshirts and got ready for a photo.

We got on the coach and waited. Eventually the coach started and we were off. Barry waved his GB flag, shouted goodbye to Cwisy (his annoying little brother). Everyone was nervous. We watched Bottom Live 2 on the coach TV, this was a little bit obscene so we were not allowed to watch Bottom Live (the first part). Later on we stopped at a Service Station (Clacket Lane). We eventually got to the white cliffs of Dover and ferry port. We went on P & O Ferries. During the ferry trip, Jon Lynch felt ill and went to sleep on the nearest chair. Whilst Robin and the rest of the Leaders sat down in the bar. A few of the Highcliffe Scouts played 'it' but it sort of collapsed when Scott and Jon sat down and had some food in the Restaurant. After that Rob Nicholls decided to put some money in the fruit machine. Amazingly he won £12 but then lost it again in the machine. Andy also won £6 and guess what? He blew it as well!

In France, when we got on the coach again, everyone went to sleep (except the coach drivers (I hope)). It (the coach) continued travelling until about 1.30 p.m.. We had stopped a couple of times on the way. When we got to Erfurt (1:30) we had lunch and set off in patrols to explore Erfurt. No shops were open and most people were bored. But a couple of patrols found a river and park in the other direction. At about 3 o'clock the Youth Hostel opened and we went up to our rooms. Dinner was set for 6:00 p.m. So, after we had washed and got our kit out we had a couple of hours to do as we wished. There was a pool table and we had a few games of that. David A beat Barry N, David G beat James B and the rest weren't finished!

A couple of us went out to try and find some shops but we only managed an off-licence. We bought some cola and some stuff that was like fizzy urine (how do you know David ?). Dinner was mashed potato, shredded cabbage and a big sausage thing. It was sick! We also had fruit salad for pudding (I'm sure it was out of a tin).

After dinner we split up into groups of 4 and a Leader and we had to try and find the town centre. A couple of groups did. Robin bought us an ice-lolly and I had a Smurf lolly (talk about bodacious). When we got back we found the only thing we could do was play cards. We went to bed at about 9:45 p.m. Unfortunately we had to get up at 5:30 am in the morning and start travelling. Objective: get to Slovakia. We got to the German-Czech Republic border. We had to wait about half-an-hour until we could go on our way. Robin filled in a Dateline application form for Barry Neal. The subject 'find a woman'. Barry's hidden hobbies include gardening and listening to classical music. We stopped for lunch at a Czech Market where David bought a C.K. T-shirt. Surprisingly they took £5 note and 12 DM for it. The smallest size they had was Large so that had to do. The Germans had given us a salami roll pack lunch.
