THOUGHTS ON RESPECT......

NOTES : Never forget that older people needs love, attention and of course...respect.

    Almost everybody cuddles babies. Few people willingly touch the old, yet they need it so desperately. Lond after sight, hearing, speech, mental faculties are lost or impaired, the sense of touch remains. 

    When our family doctor visited my mother in her last ilness, she was showing no sign of consciousness. He lifted her limp hand, placed it on his vital one. Gently he called her name. "If you know me," he said, "just press my hand." Awed, I saw her fingers flutter as she obeyed. 

     If touching is so important, why don't we more often touch the old and lonely ? Let's face it : old eyes are watery, old hands thin and clawlike, wrinkled skin unappealing. But, "I'm lonesome; just hold my hand," the old woman in my mother's nursing home said to me. Perhaps for all of us she voiced our deepest need : the gentle touch.

Lin Yutang :

    We love old cathedrals, old furniture, old silver, old dictionaries, and old prints, but we have entirely forgotten about the bauty of old men. I think an appreciation of that kind of beauty is essential to our life, for beauty, it seems to me, is what is old and mellow and well smoked.

Well, my point is....we have to respect older people because they have feelings too. They deserve to be respected. They deserve to be loved and cared for the rest of their life...well, whats left of it that is. They were once like us....imagine us in their place, the end is near and you are alone in this......you knew you wouldn't live much longer and still you can't get people around you to appreciate and understand you while you're still alive. So please I BEG YOU....please respect the old people.....love them with all your heart...they need us.....please love them, love them all.....I beg of you.....just tell your parents, your grandparents...people you love, that you cared for them and love them so much.... while you still can...do it now...it's very important, it means so much to them......please just do it.....
