ResisMeasurer 1.0 was my first program in C for the Macintosh. I used it to see how the basic toolbox works (window manager, menu manager, etc.). Also, I did this software focusing on quality, and I think there are no serious problems/bugs in it. I hope you like it!
What's new in ResisMeasurer 1.3?
There is no change in the functions or interface. The only change is that ResisMeasurer is now a FAT version, and was compiled using Symantec C++ instead of THINK C 5.0. ResisMeasurer is not a processor intensive application, so you probably won't see any speed boost, but on PowerMacs other applications will run faster while ResisMeasurer is in the background.
![]() | Download ResisMeasurer 1.3 (.zip file with 130 K). If you need help to decode and decompress the file, read my compression/encoding page (portuguese version). I know ZIP is not a very popular method in the Mac world, but it's the only format that works here in Geocities. I'm trying to solve this problem, but, for now, it's ZIP or nothing! |
What does it do???
If you are a student of electronics, ResisMeasurer is for you. It decodes the resistors color code, and it performs in-row and parallel calculations.
How does it work?
The color code decoder works like this: you have a window for 4 rings resistors, and a window for 5 rings resistors. You have a pop-up menu for each ring. Just choose the colors of the rings of the resistor you want to know the value of. The result will appear on the bottom of the window!
The in-row and parallel calculators are very easy to use: just give 2 values, and click return. The resultant value will appear in the bottom of the window. You may type spaces if you want to keep track of the number of digits. You may write decimal numbers too.
Examples: "68 000" = 68 K; "14500000" = 14.5 M
; "176345.73" = 176 345.73
The result appears rounded to 2 decimal digits. So, if the result is 10 000.1111..., 10 000.11 appears; if the result is 40 000.6666...
, 40 000.67 appears.
What do you need?
ResisMeasurer works virtually in any Mac using system 7 or higher. It doesn't work under system 6. It looks great in 16 bits color (thousands), but you may use 8 bits color (256), or even Black-and-White. You may now see the color tables in black-and-white monitors, so the page with the color table for B&W monitors isn't available any more.
How much do you have to pay?
Nothing! This is a public domain program. You may use it as much as you like! If you really like it and if you think it's a really good piece of software (it won't happen very often), you may send me an email!
Bugs???
Hey! It's my first program! I think that, if I write a program, it must work fine, or else I was just wasting my time. So, I think there are no bugs! But, if you find any problem, please e-mail me at arroz@ip.pt!
ATTENTION - I don't have a Mac with two monitors, so I don't know if the toolbar works with more than 1 monitor. It should work fine, but I couldn't test it. By the way, you may change the screen resolution if you need to. The toolbar adusts itself for the new screen size.
I didn't do this alone!!!
