Last Updated on July 19th

Congratulations to Bob Jasek for winning the pool for the third consecutive time (Jack is his young son)! Jay Siegel edged out Sam Tambe for second. Mike Diorio finished fourth. If you had picked all of the higher seeds, you would have finished tied for second. There were 90 games played this year. Thanks to everyone for playing. All of the money has come in and all of the money has gone out. Sam if you did not recieve your money, see Michael James Rizzo. See you next year.
Welcome to the sixth hockey pool. All entries are below. Please make sure I did not make a mistake or leave anyone's pool out. Don't forget to send me your entry fee. Each NHL team was picked on at least one pool to advance to the next round. 24 entries were submitted ($120) and eight different teams were picked to win the Stanley Cup. Some of the pools are identical except for the tie-breaker. Check your entry for mistakes.

The Rules

Here is the Stanley Cup hockey pool for the 2002 NHL playoffs. Entries are $5 apiece and you may enter more than once.

The prizes will be 60% (i.e., $72) of the pot for the winner, 30% for second place ($36) and 10% for third (i.e., $12). The tie-breaker will be the total number of games played in the playoffs. Whoever is closer to the actual number of games played in the playoffs wins the tie-breaker. Scoring is as follows:

1 point will be given for each correct conference quarterfinal prediction (maximum of eight),
2 points will be given for each correct conference semifinal prediction (maximum of eight),
4 points will be given for each correctly-selected conference champion
7 points will be given for choosing the Stanley Cup champion.

The division winners get the top three seeds in each conference. The big thing to remember is that after the first round (i.e., the conference quarterfinals) the teams are re-seeded so a bracket format will not work. I don't care how you format your picks as long as I can understand your entry. Thanks.

Checks can be mailed to me at 212 Edenderry Court, Sterling, Virginia 20164. Entries can be sent to paul_rizzo@sra.com or karen.rizzo@verizon.net
