I am undertaking upon a project to enhance the network of Lao Students and Professionals in the United States and abroad. Who will benefit from this?
Professionals will have the opportunities to contact and share work experiences with other Lao Professionals in his/her field. This can greatly help the Junior Lao Professionals as they enter the field. By working together, we can help each other succeed in our professional careers. As a professional, you can be a mentor to our youth. Being a roll model for other to emulate is an unselfish contribution you can give to your Lao Community.
Students will have the opportunity to contact Professionals in the field of their major. By corresponding directly with Lao Professionals out in the field, students will have a better insight into the work environment, the pros and cons of the job, the skills that he/she should focus on prior to graduating, a mentor to help you through college (by helping you with your homework, for example) and most important of all, a source for Internship opportunity or even employment. In addition, students can network among students from all over the world.
How can we accomplish this?
The information you provide will be saved in a database. A query form will be provided for anyone to search for anything that is in the database. For example, if I want to find out who is working as an accountant, I can enter a search criteria using the key words "Accountant" or "Accounting". This will return a list of all Lao Students or Professionals working as an Accountant or majoring in Accounting. You can either search for both students or professionals. The resulting list will contain the Person's Name, Company/College, and E-mail Address for you to contact that person.
