Introduction

Nottingham Wind Power Project have been promoting sustainable energy in the East Midlands for the past four years. We recently secured a contract to do alternative technology workshops at the Ecoworks Garden Hungerhill allotments, St Ann's, Nottingham. This is a brief report of the first 6 months.

The over riding result from each of the workshops seems to have consistently been a reinforced sense of 'well being'. This has often been related to a sense of achievement and satisfaction of 'work done' - including the assembly of the pedal powered circuit lights, erection a vertical axis Savonius rotor or the skill in making fabric sails for model windmills. Personally I have most enjoyed the decision making deliberations and process of considering the alternatives and implementing usually several possibilities. Both with the workshops and the planning sessions , where efficiency has been successfully with a need for everyone thoughts and feelings to be heard and where possible, met. I look forward to more of the same!
