****** NOTICE:
Jack Woltmon was one of the best supporters of this web-site and of our
local orchid societies. With his death on Christmas Day, 2002 we think
it most fitting to dedicate this web site to his memory.
Jack was a collector and hybridizer of orchids for over 35 years.
Although he grew Cymbidiums, Dendrobiums and many other orchids,
he specialized and excelled in miniature Cattleyas. He created some of
the finest and outstanding reds. Spanning a 35 year period, he made and
named approximately 175 orchid hybrids.
His living in Wahiawa, with its cool climate, and his excellent
stud plants both contributed to his great success with the miniature
reds that had a Sophronitis background.
