Summary: Water quality in this sub-catchment is unknown since no water quality monitoring has been conducted.
Issues: Hunters Hill has very old infrastructure and in Lane Cove council has many waterfront properties which were originally self sewered (ie. septic systems or direct discharge to the Lane Cove River). Council plans of the drainage and sewer reticulation systems are unavailable. PCDs exist in Baronia avenue and Brickmakers park but are costly for the council to maintain and ineffective in wet weather events (the period when they are most required).
Knowledge Gaps: The location of sewerage and stormwater overflows and outlets is unknown.
Recommendations: It is difficult to devise a monitoring program in this area because the number of small sub-catchments would make testing each one an extensive and expensive program, yet each small sub-catchment drains directly into the Lane Cove River where dilution makes assessing these collectively, virtually impossible. Unfortunately there is no other way of assessing many small sub-catchments such as these without pooling samples. An evaluation of the PCDs should be undertaken.
