Summary: Water quality in this sub-catchment is moderate. Nutrient level seem to be moderate but oxygenation of the water is poor. This combined with high levels of chlorophyll-A indicate eutrophic conditions suitable for algal growth. Faecal coliform and ammonia levels indicate sewage overflows are occurring.

Issues: Whilst Parramatta council occupies only a small part of the total catchment its position at the headwaters of Terrys and Devlins creek is important. Conversely, because LCR catchment is only a small part of Parramatta council, it receives very little attention. In addition, this sub-catchment is largely residential and has a large potential for sewerage overflow and leakage because of the large areas of paved surface and the resultant stormwater volumes. The area also has a history of flooding which has associated problems of overflows, nutrient and propagule transport and their resultant effects on bushland and water quality.

Knowledge Gaps: More information is required on the location of sewerage overflows and stormwater outlets in the sub-catchment.

Recommendations: Sewerage and stormwater information should be gathered. The effectiveness of the sediment trap / GPT opposite Kandy avenue, Epping should be evaluated, though dissolved solids are low in this sub-catchment.
