Summary: Water quality in this sub-catchment is moderate. All water quality parameters meet the ANZECC guidelines about half of the time, even in wet weather which indicates that the sewerage system is barely containing the volumes required of it.
Issues: Lane Cove public golf course may be a significant contributor to nutrient loads, especially due to its position on land fill above the Gore creek. This land fill consists of building rubble and spoil from the NSOOSS tunnel.
Knowledge Gaps: More information on the location and activity of sewerage overflows is required. Stormwater information is fair but water quality tests need to continue and the range of tests be expanded.
Recommendations: As with all areas in Lane Cove council area, the sewerage system seems excessively overloaded and in the case of Gore Creek is only just coping with demand. An overhaul of the sewerage system is required to truly rectify the problem.
