Summary: Water quality in this sub-catchment is poor. All parameters fail to comply with ANZECC guidelines except pH and dissolved solids. The later is likely to be due to the effectiveness of the sediment basin in Wallalong Cres., West Pymble. It is only a small sub-catchment but contains the large and active Gloucester Ave.. sewage overflows which are part of the Lane Cove East sewerage sub-main.
Issues: The sewerage overflows at the end of Glouscester Ave. are of concern for this sub-catchment and for the Lane Cove River in general.
Knowledge Gaps: Due to its high profile, sewerage, stormwater and rainfall information for this sub-catchment are largely complete.
Recommendations: Containment of the severity of the major sewerage overflows as quickly as possible, since the sites upstream nature is affecting Lane Cove Rivers overall water quality. It is suggested that remediation at this site would rapidly improve overall water quality since background pollution levels elsewhere will have been reduced.
