I am a professional Chartered Biologist and am a Regional Conservation, Recreation and Navigation Officer with the UK Government's Enviroment Agency. My specialist professional knowledge is in the conservation of aquatic environments and species protection. I am BASIS qualified and am also the UK's National Biodiversity Co-ordinator for the River Jelly Lichen. My main interest on the Net is British and Italian genealogy.

The Formaggia family in Britain are descended from Giuseppe Formaggia [see Photo].Giuseppe was born in Pesaro, Marche on 12.11.1880, the son of Ernesto Petrini Formaggia and Marina Gesualda Formaggia [nee Raffaelli]. Ernesto Formaggia was born 04.07.1841 in S.Giorgio Martire, Lodi, Lombardy and was a soldier throughout the Risorgimento - ending his service at Pesaro. His parents were Giuseppe Formaggia and Giuseppina Benzoni. He married Marina Gesualda Raffaelli in January 1870 in Pesaro. Marina was the daughter of Salvatore Francesco Rafffaelli and Clementa Raffaelli [nee Mainardi, the daughter of Fillipo Mainardi]. She was a native of Pesaro born at SS Cassiani 10.05.1844.
