Wild lives I met in Kenya

In Feb. 1996, I made a short visit to Kenya, in order to study silviculture on dry land. I visited Masai Mara national park, which is famous with its abundance of wild lives, and Nairobi N.P., very near to Nairobi. There I met much more wild lives than I expected, so closer to me. I "hunted' them by my camera, Canon EOS 1000 and ordinary 200 mm lens. Although they are just a traveller's glimpse, I hope you will share the pleasure and wonder I experienced

Lion

Lions were seen easily everywhere in savanna, like a dog in a suburban empty. Most of them are sleeping or resting like they are in a zoo. The driver of Toyota Land Cruiser who took us around, took more time than we liked to show us a mating of lion and lioness. It might be one of attractions in safari tour. At the moment they showed me wild furious expression, which gave me a good shot.

@Elephant

When I saw a group of elephant moving in line, far over the grassland, I was deeply moved by wonder. It was like a series of black mountains. I have never experienced " whale watching" on the sea, but the wonder of a whale watcher must be similar to that I had then.

Giraffe

I did not saw giraffes forming group. This is the only picture placed here that was taken in Nairobi national park. They just stood and ate the leaves of acacia trees. It does not seem so special around there in spite of their characteristic tall body. I once saw a giraffe grazing just by the road near Nairobi.

Buffalo

It is said that a buffalo is one of the most dangerous (for men) animal on African savanna. Yes, they seemed to be ready for rush when we approached the herd.

Leopard

This is certainly my best shot in Kenya. It took more than a hour for our driver with his keen eyes to find it. It was on a acacia tree. It was a beautiful creature.

Savanna

Savanna has very much limited number of trees. It may highly because of abundant grazer. The height of leaves of the trees must be a "giraffe line".
