*A report just came over the radio that Jakob Dylan is very worried about his
dad. Bob Dylan was recently hospitalized complaining of chest pains. He
didn't have a heart-attack, but was suffering from something that I couldn't
even begin to try to pronounce or type. Jakob will be cancelling some tour
dates in Switzerland & the UK. The US tour dates will not be affected. They
are also reported to be doing something at the radio station that gave the
report. Then he played "6th Ave. Heartache". (SHARON)

*IF YOU'VE BEEN FOLLOWING THE NEWSLETTER THAN YOU REMEMBER THE ATLANTA CONCERT WHERE JAKE GOT HIT BY A GLASS AND TOLD A GUY IN THE AUDIENCE THAT HE WAS GONNA SPEND HIS MONEY ON A FEW DRINKS AFTER THE SHOW...WELL, SOMEONE INFORMED ME THAT I WAS LEAVING THE BEST PART OUT WHEN SOMEONE THREW A BRA UP ON THE STAGE DURING THAT CONCERT. JAKOB SAID, "THIS IS AN INTERESTING PATTERN. FLOWERS. WALLFLOWERS. EVERYONE SEES WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE IN LIFE AND I SEE WALLFLOWERS." WELL, SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT, BUT YOU GET THE POINT. WHEN JAKE WAS HIT BY THE GLASS WITH LIQUID IN IT HE SAID, "RULE NUMBER ONE IN ROCK N' ROLL?: NEVER HIT THE LEAD SINGER."

interviewer: (something to the effect of if being Bob's son had helped)
Jake: You know it's funny but people think I have had it easy, but I've been
hacking away at this for nearly seven years with zero success, so I don't feel
like it's really helped me, considering how easy you would think somebody like
me would have it. But I consider it a good thing. I've certainly had my ups
and downs doing this, but wherever it is that I am righ tnow, it hasn't been a
cakewalk.
journailist: how do you feel about your mother?
Jake: I think somebody probably wants to believe she was like Marianne Fiathfull, but I can't say it. She's just as special as anybody else's mother.
~~~After highschool Jake gigged around, playing guitar in bands like "Livestock" and developing a penchant for bands like "The Clash" and "The Replacements". He penned his first song at 19 and admits "it was stupid". Meanwhile as the band has hit the road, Jake has had to abandon his spare-time pursuits. "I coach Little League." Pause. "No, I don't. But I do fantasize about that, only because I reached my peak in life during Little League." The article concludes by saying that mostly, Dylan has music on his mind. In a rare moment though, he even agrees to answer a Bob Dylan question: What your favorite album from your father's massive oeuvre? *JAKE TALKING TO A "MUCH MUSIC" VJ: he said that after a few years of trying out painting he threw away everthing, and started playing music again. The VJ looked hurt as he was also a one-time painter. He asked Jake if he liked to draw the shading of fruit to which he replied kind of shocked that this guy even cared: "That was my favorite part!" *IF YOU'RE STILL ANXIOUSLY WAITING TO SEE THE MTV UNPLUGGED SHOW THAT THE WALLFLOWERS TAPED NEAR THE BEGINNING OF MAY, IT'LL BE A WHILE LONGER...WORD IS THAT IT WAS ONE SHOW TAPED IN A SEGMENT OF NUMEROUS OTHER NEW ONES WHICH WILL AIR SOMETIME THIS SUMMER.
