Bier) in front of our own slip with dockbox. it feels good to be home again. the transit of lake superior south shore went smoothly with only a few days of waiting for weather. while in grand marais mich. we met Howard and Bill on PAMIR (J 22) trailored from Madison who left the harbour in dense fog bound for Michipoten Isl. we were looking forward to another extended visit of Marquette mich. but weather dictated we leave sofort after fueling (4gal. diesel) at nite and a brief sleep at anchor. on arrival at south entry keweenaw waterway we enjoyed fresh fillets from the the fishing vessel which we had seen checking nets for many hours around the Huron isl. fantastic- fresh-lake trout. while lugging groceries to the city dock in houghton a nice lady invited us to dinner at her house on the waterway. coincidentally connie and larry where also hosts to ann linnea about 10 years ago. she wrote the book:"deep water passage" about her kayak trip around the entire lake superior, which rosi recently read. unfortunately we only had a brief mid waterway chat with chip ahoy. after waiting through labour day weekend in houghton for a windshift, we had an easy 18 hr. toern (cruise) back to the Apostles, while eating the last of baerbels vollkornbrot with pepper mint tee from ATTA-BOUY. thanks also to many of you who supported this trip: ted gimber, ray the plumber(someone@electric shop-please forward) for the charts, matt for producing our sentinel many years ago out of recycled wheelweights, wolfgang for sending us new ligretto cards, vonnie for the schotten-totten and paperback books as well as pat from DORIS-E. our only shortfall was having left the french dictionary at libelle. looking forward now to messages from you (ARGENTA,TRITON,IKARUS,AMICULA,SMIDGEON,PEPPERMINT,HERZ II) as we have easier access to computers again. alles gouda jim and rosi. 1
