Greetings!

I was gone most of the weekend and found an email today from Rosi and Jim. They plan to leave Grenada today (Monday, 7 Feb) with the planned destination of Grand Cayman or Cozumel. I guess they decided to dispense with the idea of going to Dominica. I believe they are taking this route because the currents generally run west and then north to Cozumel and the winds are typically from the east at this time of year.

My quick and dirty calculations estimated that the straight line distance between Grenada and Cozumel is about 1500 nautical miles. Assuming an average speed of 100nm/day, they would get there in about two weeks. By comparison, the distance across the Atlantic was almost 2800 nm, but we went pretty fast, with an average speed of 134nm/day.

We wish the best of wind and weather and, of course,

Alles Gouda,

Yvonne 1
