Announcements and scheduled activities:
In order to further our efforts on the Cumberland Trail, the CTC
has partnered with the Student Conservation Association on the sponsorship
of a Resource Assistant Program Position. We're pleased to announce that
Arleen Barnett, one of TTA's Nashville Chapter members and our current TTA
newsletter editor, has committed to the RA position. This program will have
a tremendous impact on our ability to respond to CT issues and further
the trail, and we are pleased to have Arleen aboard. If you are interested
in helping explore and hike the CT, Arleen is looking for hiking partners
and can be emailed at arleen.f.barnett@vanderbilt.edu.
Multipro of Cookeville has agreed to provide a permanent home
for our new Hiking Guide and Maps website. We appreciate their generosity and support.
October 23 Workday to place signs on the Breakfast Table
Trailhead, check the Morgan County Volunteers, and continue our efforts
at flagging to Turkey Creek. Contact Rob at 423-533-2620.
Bob Brown, TTA volunteer, explains the
indicators for winter tree identification during the
BreakAway '97 project.
Bob often helps us identify trees, wildflowers, and other
plants while on our hikes or workdays. He has studied the
flora of the Tennessee mountains extensively, and willingly
shares his expertise to anyone who exhibits an interest.
