Rainforest Eye - About Demetri

Demetri Dimas Efthyvoulos was born in Cyprus in 1924. He is a photographer, speaker, journalist and healer, and he has authored and published the book "Spirits of the Rainforest - Aspects of the Hyper-real." Click for description. His long apprenticeship in shamanic practices in the Amazon enabled him to become a channel for the photographic innovation described in his book and in this web site. This work has been shown since 1987 in a variety of venues in Latin America, the USA, Europe and Russia. Click for list of slide presentations and exhibitions.

In the slide presentations, accompanied by "icaro" and native melodies, Demetri projects these images with a progressive change of focus. This generates an additional cascade of incredible images and a haunting awareness that each one of us should do more to protect the environment. Click here for list of comments

Demetri is currently in his home island Cyprus preparing translations of his book, and lecturing.
