Kortright Centre for Conservation

Since 1992, the Section has been a partner in public education with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority at its Kortright Centre for Conservation (Major Mackenzie Dr. and Highway 400). Section members volunteer as interpretive guides during annual events such as the Maple Syrup Festival and Fall Colour Festival, provide technical assistance to Kortright staff, and have developed fact sheets on maple syrup and fall colours. Section members are currently helping to develop a self guided forest ecosystem trail and a permanent indoor forestry display at the Centre. We are always looking for enthusiastic new people to help expand our public education efforts at the Kortright Centre.

There have been four pamphlets created by Harvey Anderson and the Kortright Committee, providing background information for the two  Kortright events. They are listed below and will be available in .pdf format.  You will need a .pdf reader such as Acrobat to view them.  The reader is free as found at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Newsletter

Since 1981, the Section newsletter has been distributed to members and Section partners at least four times a year. It is a high quality publication, containing valuable information about section activities as well as being an excellent resource for a variety of items dealing with forestry locally, nationally, and internationally. Contributions to the newsletter are always welcome!
