Janet Fleming Paiute-Washo-Mono Janet was taught to make pine needle baskets by her mother, and sold her first basket at Stewart Indian Cultural Center. She also makes baby moccasins. Janet really enjoys making the miniature baskets, she likes to feel the texture and strength of the basket in the palm of her hand and know that she made this wondrous object. She begins each basket with a small hole in the bottom so the "basket spirit" can come and go. |
