B-17 "Aluminum Overcast" visits Asheville page 1

There are only 18 B-17 Flying Fortresses flying today out of the 14000 used in the war.


Here are more pictures taken before my flight.



The following picture is of the Aluminum Overcast coming in after taking up a group of people.
Note where the pilots sits in the cockpit up above the inward engine.
Some think that the pilot and co-pilot sit in the glassed in nose.
Above and behind the cockpit is the upper gun turrett.

Below is a picture taken in flight before I sat in the Bombariers seat.
Also the Norden bombsight and ammo clips for the front 50 Cal. machineguns.
Since the nose of the plane and is glassed in with a 180 degree view,
it is the best place to sit.
