Introduction

The Botany Group of Kedah MNS organises monthly outings to interesting places of natural history in Kedah as well as the surrounding region.

One of the more spectacular melastomaceaes.

 
Cendawan
Wild mushrooms
Fungi play an important role in an eco-system.

Objective

The Botany Group is aimed to generate interest in local flora (eg. plants, trees, herbs, flowers etc) as well as to identify and learn the names of endemic species, their families and their possible use to mankind.

A beautiful epiphytic ginger.


 
Tepus Tanah
Zingiber spectabile
One of the many medicinal plants of the ginger family.

Activities

Usual activities include jungle trekking and mountain climbing in forest reserves, tree-watching in parks and recreational areas, sometimes involving overnight camping.

Amorphophallus campanulatus
The world's tallest flower.
