Australia's native animals are many and varied - here are just a few.

Red kangaroo with her joey. She
carries him in her pouch until he is
old enough to care for himself.
Koalas sleep for most of
the day. They carry their young on their back




This beautiful little creature is a sugar glider. They are no bigger than your hand. They live on fruit & insects.
Tasmanian Devil. Their teeth can crush bone. They eat mostly carrion


 
This spectacular lizard is the Frill Neck - they only display the frill like this when scared or angry.They really are timid creatures who can run upright at high speed for short distances.



Australia's treasured bottle-nosed
dolphins are curious about people and often follow boats or swim close to
shore to interact.
We are lucky enough to have whales here too.. this one surprised a fisherman right in Sydney Harbour!
