'You two obviously slept well?' Ike asked, smiling.
I nodded in agreement and Tay mumbled through a mouth full of cereal.
Ike only grinned.
When Tay and I were finished breakfast, Zac took us out to the backyard to show us a tree house he was beginning to build.
'This is cool Zac.' Tay told him admiring it.
'Yep. And it's gonna be bigger'n better than the other one.' He proudly informed us.
'Where are you going to get the rest of wood from?'
'Well, um, see……..' Zac quickly started to busy himself with some wood scraps in the corner.
'Yes Zac, go on.' Tay smirked, knowing his brother was up to something.
'Well, see, I was kinda hoping, since I am only eleven and you and Ike are older, then you would ask mom and dad if they could…….'
'Zac what?'
'Well, we have lots of trees here……'
'Zac!'
'What? We wouldn't miss one………'
'Zac, you are unbelievable.' Tay started to climb down from the tree where we were sitting.
'Peta! What do you think?' Zac looked at me pleadingly.
'I don't know Zac.' I tried not to laugh.
'Don't laugh! You people are so mean! I'm only a little kid!' he pouted.
From down below, Tay called.
'Peta! Are you coming?'
'Sure!'
I started to climb down the tree.
Zac grabbed my leg.
'Don't go! Please! I'm scared! Peta! Don't go!'
'Tay! Heeeeellllllpppppp!'
At that point, Zac decided to let go.
I nearly fell down the tree.
'Come on!' Tay laughed and helped me down.
We headed off on our walk leaving Zac to his tree house.
Tay took my hand as we walked to his 'secret place'.
As we were battling our way through the trees, he started humming a tune.
'Whatcha humming?' I asked him.
'Oh, just a song.'
'Yeah, duh! What song?'
'All my life, KCi and JoJo.'
'Oh cool! I love that song. There's no one around, let's sing.'
'Nah…..'
'Yes!' I started.
'I will never find another lover, sweeter than you, sweeter than you, and I will never find another lover, more precious than you, more precious than you……' I prompted Tay to continue.
He did, somewhat reluctantly but nevertheless beautifully.
