Chapter 2
Expecting to see the usual books, notepads, toothpaste on the list, she only glanced over it.
This time however, Maya was surprised.
The note was not the usual shopping list, it was a poem titled ‘Watch the star lights fall.’ It looked like it had been torn out of a book.
Intrigued, Maya took the note to her bedroom to read in private.
‘Watch the star lights fall,
down on barren ground
the pitiful Aurora queen
pull the rope that binds around.
Watch the star lights fall
into blackest night
the darkness take revenge
steal the precious light.’
Maya inhaled sharply.
‘Wooah! What was that all about?’ she muttered.
She stared at the note and reread it a number of times. It still did not begin to make sense.
Maya heard her mother quietly pad up the hallway.
‘Maya dear?’ she called.
‘Yes mom?’
‘Was there a note from Bly?’
Maya looked at the note in her hands.
‘No mom.’
Something told Maya that the note was meant for her.
The next few days went by in a blur for Maya.
With cheerleading practice, schoolwork and her new part time job at the local music shop.
She was a bit surprised to find herself at another Friday afternoon again.
‘May? Are you coming to Trey’s tonight? We’re gonna get his brother to get us some booze.’ Maya’s friend Emily whispered behind her math book.
Maya shrugged.
For some reason she didn’t feel like going out tonight.
‘Don’t know. I’ll see later.’
‘K.’

Blythe took a small vial from her nightstand. Her outfit was complete. All she needed now was a special occasion to wear it to.

@)--)------ ~’~’~’~That night after school, Maya found herself heading straight home, an unusual occurrence for her on any night, especially a Friday.
‘Maya? Where ya going?’ Trey called out.
‘Home.’
‘Huh? Why? Aren’t ya coming over? Ben got us some great vodka and stuff.’
‘Nah. Don’t feel like it.’
Trey looked at her strangely, before walking off. Girls were just too hard to work out.
All the way home, Maya felt increasingly nauseous.
Her head started spinning and she felt very light on her feet, as if she wasn’t walking, but gliding, guided by something.

@)--)------ ~’~’~’~‘Take the light. Call the east, west, north and south. Bring all the corners together. Now is the time, now is the hour. Mine is the magic, mine is the power.’
(Taken from ‘The Craft’)Blythe knew it was getting closer to the time. She could feel her sister getting nearer, nearer. Guided by the unseen light. She felt the power flow through her body, she felt it surge, lightning split the sky.

@)--)------ ~’~’~’~Maya shuddered at the sudden streak of lightning.
Where did that come from? She wondered.
As she got closer to the house, she began to feel increasingly light and airy.

@)--)------ ~’~’~’~‘ Hail to the guardians of the watchtowers of the North. By the power of Earth and by the powers of three times three……Hail to the guardians of the watchtowers of the East. By the power of Air and by the powers of three times three……Hail to the guardians of the watchtowers of the South. By the power of Fire and the power of three times three……….Hail to the guardians of the watchtowers of the West. By the power of Water and by the power of three times three…….I call thee, I beg thee, I need thee……………’
Blythe felt him enter her, she felt his power coursing through her veins but she knew it was not quite time yet, she had to wait just a little longer.
