Updated photos of our Strawbale Cabin

Note: This is still a work in progress so excuse the mess, still lots to do

North-East corner after 1st coat of lime plaster. If you look closely at to left side you can see the straw, plastering ended when snow arrived and covered the sand pile.

Close-up shot of the small East window. Shows how the wall curves in to the window and the cut-out shelf above. I will be putting on a nice sill and front plate.

Cut-out in East wall. I used a chainsaw to make cut-outs

This shot shows the strawbale wall meeting the 2x6 stud wall. We filled the stud walls with paper cellulose for insulation. Can see the hill (mountain if you are from Ontario) on the other side of the lake. Its 2 to 3 kms away.

Entrance to the loft. Still have to workout the stair details.

This picture shows our cluttered kitchen. Looks like our drywall has chicken pox. Note our butterfly window, I will be using natural plasters on the inside to shape the butterfly.

This mirror frame will be used to highlight the window in the peak on the East side.

This shows the raw 18" walls and some of the clutter (I need to build some closets). The scaffolding will be replaced with a small bed in this corner. We have the space as the ceiling is 10 feet high.

The butterfly window on outside with 1st coat of plaster.

This shows the west profile with my scaffolding still in place. There will be a entrance boot room built replacing the temporary deck with a walkout deck above from the loft. A turret will be placed in the corner.

Cover on the North side, to keep 4 cords of wood dry for winter
