The Down To Earth Building Bee is helping to make earth architecture more accessible to the public through seminars & workshops to promote environmental conservation and creative alternatives to help end the clear cutting of the ancient temperate rainforests of the Pacific Northwest. The Down to Earth Building Bee has organized a cob project/workshop with the Nuxalk Nation in Bella Coola, B.C. to build a cob cafe.

Dave is very knowledgeable about energy usage & conservation, Earthships and other natural energy efficient designs. I have had many e-mail discussions with Dave regarding Earthships, Cob and energy efficiency. Check out the section on how he reduced his electrical bill by 75%, the power company has changed his meter multiple times. He presents lots of good ideas to save energy.

A conical roof is made from 1/2" plywood stressed into conical cones for great strength. This is a new, totally cool way of building roof structures.
