Introduction
My name is Alexander Belokurov. My field of expertise: Environmental Science, Environmental Management and
Mathematical modelling of processes in geosystems.
About me
I have been working at the Russian State Institute for Applied Ecology in the
Department "Mathematical Modelling of Processes in Geosistems and GIS" since
1993.
At present time I am involved in the project of Wetlands International "Development of the strategy for wetlands protection
in the Russian Federation". I am working as a member of the co-ordination group.
During last year I was studying on the European Postgraduate Course in Environmental
Management in the Netherlands. The European
Postgraduate Course in Environmental Management (EPCEM) is an
international postgraduate programme meant to bridge the gap between academic studies and
the practice of environmental policy and management in Europe. In this one year full-time
programme attention is paid both knowledge and skills in the field of environmental policy
and management.
I participated in the interdisciplinary research project “Framework
for an Integrated Land-Use Plan for the Mid-Yaselda Area in Belarus”, related to the
conservation of the wetlands in the Pripayt floodplains in the Rebublic of Belarus. The
commissioner of this project was Wetlands International. We were
working in the international and interdisciplinary team at the Wageningen Centre for
Environment and Climate Studies.
I was doing my internship at the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment in the European Environmental Policy Division of the Directorate for
International Environmental Affairs. I was co-ordinating the project "Public
participation and public access to environmental information" in the framework of the
Dutch-Russian programme of bilateral co-operation.
