The Problem
There is a big problem in Taiga: clearcutting. Clearcutting is a type of logging that is done to take trees out of the Taiga to make things. Clearcutting clears out a whole area so that there is nothing left except stumps. Wiping out a whole area is bad because it would kill many animals by destroying their habitats.
Even though clearcutting has been outlawed in many areas, it is still going on, because people want to make lots of money in a business, even though it is not always legal.
There are a few solutions for this.
Big Solution
A big solution would be to have the government shut down the logging companies. This would be bad because it would put a lot of people out of jobs. It would also be bad because if the government shuts down the company, the owner would lose a lot of money. But it is good because it would save many animals.
Kid Power Solution
A kid solution would be to write a letter to the company and ask them to be more environmentally aware, by being more selective about the way that they cut trees. Another kid solution would be to ask the government to do something about clearcutting. A kid could write a letter to the congressional respresentative for Indiana, asking him to start a bill in Congress to stop clearcutting.
