Camping is my favorite way of travelling in the summer, either by bike (3 gear) or by the public transport. It costs nearly nothing to get around, and you dont have to worry about loosing things, hotel reservations etc.

The equipment is not large. A two person tent, an inflatable matress, a cheap aluminum matress, a foam rubber matress. All of which can fit into a backpack or a bicyclle bag. In the old days that was heavy, but with the new materials its only a few pounds (or kilos).

There is even room for a few souvenirs and a small radio. Food drink, tooth paste and other shopping is done as one travels for very few dollars a day. The camping grounds here are cheap too. I dont carry much from place to place.

Suggestion for equipment for a short bicycle camping trip

The equipmment must be lightweight and compact. Not more than what you can have in the bicycle bags and on the rack.

1. One or two persons tent
2. Sleeping bag
3. Liggeunderlag ##
4. Headlamp and taillight for the bike
• The head lamp can be used in the tent, if you have extra batteries
• Otherwise: Lamp for the tent
5. Bag with disposable eating utensils and paper dishes. Two per day
6. Night clothes for cold nights:
• thick sweater,
• jogging trousers and
• socks
7. Toiletries bag with soap, tooth paste and toothbrush
8. Towels
9. Plastic bag for used clothes
10. Plastic bag for used towels
11. Small battery powered radio, if possible with pillow speaker/head phones
12. 5 pieces of toilet paper (supplement stock on way)
13. Extra batteries for all battery powered things (supplement stock on way)

You buy food, drinks etc. on the way. Make yourself some sandwiches for one of the meals and for breakfast.
