Carolee Colter

As a volunteer activist with the Seattle Audubon Society, Carolee coordinates the Northwest Shade Coffee Campaign (coffee@seattleaudubon.org). The Campaign is a coalition of coffee companies (currently 30 members) doing business in the Pacific Northwest, that promotes the benefits of shade-grown coffee to the coffee industry and to the general public. Member companies and Audubon volunteers staff booths at public events, produce a brochure for public distribution, provide a shade coffee sticker for use on bulk bins in stores, maintain a web site listing retail locations where consumers can purchase shade coffee in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana (with BC and Alaska to be added.)

An avid birder, Carolee identified her first warbler (Yellow) in 1985 and ever since has felt a personal commitment to the conservation of neotropical migrants. When she's not birding or promoting shade coffee, she runs her own consulting business in the natural foods industry.
