My Phillips line begins with Lessie Mary Elvira Phillips, my grandmother. She died when my mother, Joyce Elaine Chappell, was 5 years old. My grandfather later married Jeanie Rosser.
Lessie was born July 10, 1897 in Holly Pond, Alabama (on Brindlee Mountain) and died September 7, 1933 in Boaz, Alabama. Both Lessie and Henry are buried in Bethany Cemetery, Marshall County, Alabama. She and Henry Franklin Chappell were married August 26, 1917 in New Home Church, Marshall County.
Lessie's parents are: Asa Bartow Phillips and Maggie Rebecca Durham. Asa was born May 26, 1871 in Marshall County and died February 22, 1953 in Arab, Alabama. Asa and Maggie were married November 19, 1893.
Asa's parents were William Alfred Phillips and Mary Caroline Vickery. WA Phillips was born December 21, 1836 and died March 24, 1913 in Marshall County. WA was a Confederate soldier in the War Between the States for Hart County, Georgia. I joined the United Daughters of the Confederacy as his descendent. WA and Mary were married February 21, 1860 in Hart County.
WA's parents were Henry Kinchen Phillips and Nancy Patterson. Henry was bornn 1805/1806 in NC or SC and died June 8, 1892 probably in Hart County. Henry and Nancy were married October 11, 1832 in Hart County. At one time Henry was coroner of Hart County.
I think Henry's father was William Phillips and died in Elbert County, Georgia before 1820. Trying to connect back to earlier family.
Any information will be appreciated.
