EUROPEAN WORK HAZARDS NETWORK
SUBNETWORK ON OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES
First announcement:
OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SERVICES:
2
nd WORKING CONFERENCE ON KEYPROFESSIONAL,
POLITICAL,
AND ETHICAL ISSUES
Friday, 25 –Sunday, 27 SEPTEMBER 1998
VIENNA - AUSTRIA
Following a first conference in Livorno (1995) the Subnetwork Occupational Health Services intends to focus on key issues in the development of worker oriented OHS. A meeting planned for February 1998 in Linz/Austria had to be cancelled, but now we hope this will offer a good alternative.
Issues / conference items:
Key issues in the development of occupational health services:
1. Why sickness absence control?
It is necessary to participate in the discussions within the EU on the implementation of article 7 of the framework directive 89/391 on health surveillance, als OHS personnel will play a key role in determining how health surveillance will develop.
2. How do successful occupational health practitioners and workers representatives change organizations and improve working conditions?
People working in occupational health need to develop the services in a market, but nevertheless along legal requirements and in conjunction with professional guidelines. This item will touch how those whose health is being cared about are / can be involved.
3. Multidisciplinarity in OHS work
Multidisciplinarity is favoured by many who work in or write about occupational health. How multidisciplinarity can be developed and used, and where it’s advantages (and difficulties) are, will be in the focus of this part of the conference.
The conference will work on these items in partially parallel workshops, starting friday evening and continuing during saturday. Facilitators will be invited to promote a critical and visionary discussion. On sunday morning we will view key statements from the workshops.
Working language: English.
The conference will take place at the Seminar Center GLORIETTEGASSE,VIENNA, Austria. For participants intending to arrive earlier: The local team will be pleased to arrange visits to companies or other places of interest. Please tell us what you have in mind.
Price: ATS 1600.- (approx 115 ECU) / full board and lodging / 2 nights.
