I joined my first martial arts class in January of 1988. I very quickly fell in love with the martial arts and have been in class since then. I am currently a second degree black belt, but feel that I am just a beginner and have a life time of learning to do. In the beginning of 1992 I started Northern Shaolin Long Fist kung fu at Grand Valley State University. I quickly fell in love with this art as well. Trying to keep the two styles seperate and practice both is a constant struggle. I will never be that good at either, but that was never my goal. I love to study the arts and love learning the history, philosophy, and principals of each system. Each system has elements that work well for me. I have two great instructors who make studying the martial arts both rewarding and enjoying. Thanks Brad and Steve :)
