HOW TO PLANT ROSES...

      • Plant the rose plants where they will receive at least six hours of sun a day.
      • Dig a hole 15-18 inches wide and deep, or double the width of the container if it should be larger.
      • Add organic matter, such as peat moss or compost, to the bottom of the hole and mix with loose soil.
      • Form a mound of loose soil in the bottom of the hole.
      • Carefully remove the plant from the container, unless it's a paper-mache' pot. (If it's a paper-mache' pot, then follow the preparation instructions on the package.)
      • Prune any broken roots or canes, and any canes that are less than pencil width thick.
      • Position the roots on the mound of soil in the bottom of the hole. Spread the roots in a natural manner around the mound.
      • Position the plant so that the bud union (the area where the canes and roots meet) is just above ground level.
      • Rplace the siol and tamp gently to eliminate air pockets. Continue adding soil until the hole is 3/4 full.
      • Fill the hole with water and let it sink in. REPEAT
      • Fill the remaining hole with soil and tamp gently.
      • Again fill with water and let it sink in.
