I was attending a quiet demonstration in the Otways forest with my children when i was attacked from behind by a timber industry heavy. Yes, that's me with the camera in hand, being driven to the ground.
Though this incident was filmed by TV news crews from Australia's ABC and a commercial network, the police were not interested in investigating the attack and took no action. Indeed they were reluctant to take my statement later at the police station. It made me wonder if reckless, macho, behaviour is what is driving the industry's logging practices. Destructive practices to which the State turns a blind eye. |
