Circle of Hope Proclamation
IN HONOR OF
CURTIS STEPHENSON

Curt Stephenson, as esteemed member of the Circle of Hope, became the subject of an invasion of foreign cells in his early grade school years. The invasion created a grim diagnosis and poor prognosis. Curt, because of his youth naiveté, enjoyed some isolation from the despair the condition would normally bring.

Fortunate for Curt, he had loving and devoted parents who had the determination to seek information, nation wide, about the treatment of this disease. That determination took Curt and his family to New York where they found reason for optimism that the foreign cells could be found and obliterated. Curt was the beneficiary of tremendous support from his parents, his family and grandparents.

In the meantime, Curt and his family joined the Circle of Hope. Initially, Curt was more reticent than vocal. He listened. His presence in the Circle's meetings added a new and very enjoyable dimension. He became "Our Curt."

Slowly but surely Curt's reticence melted away. He became an active member contributing much to the work of the Circle. His successful fight against the foreign invasion became a source of inspiration to those of us similarly afflicted. He set an example of faith. He gave others Hope. He is nothing short of an inspiration. He has no shortcomings that we can judge other than we know and accept the fact that if there is a sporting event in whatever is the current sport season, it might likely receive his attention rather than events more mundane than any other event at hand.

Now he has achieved another milestone in his life: Graduation from High School. Thus, we proclaim Curt Stephenson day in honor, not only of his achievements, but for coming into the lives of all of us and giving us all hope for the future. We know he will continue to be an inspiration to those around him and a success in his future endeavors.

Dated the 7th day of May, 2003, unanimously adopted by the Circle of Home on the same day.
