Ireland 2001
Well Ireland was a great time, no work, no worries, and good friends. We stayed most of the week out of a B&B in the town of Oranmore, just outside of Galway. The Ashbrook House, run by Mary Noone, was a great place to stay, and I still claim within walking distance of "Cheers", actually called Keene's. In many ways similar to where I grew up. Similar in that cows were across the road, and the food was good.

We had many day trips to other areas around Galway, actually only seeing a small part of the country. I was amazed at how many rocks were all over the place, how few trees there were, and the fact that they can actually grow potatoes at all in that soil. For the rainy season, we only had two hours of rain that week, although we did get a frost our last night in Shannon.

Ruins, Ruins, and more Ruins. Castles, houses, walls, churches, church yards, and everything else under the sun was represented everywhere we went by the remaining ruins. I've never seen so many crumbling things in one small area - and remember I live in Washington County Maine. While we saw many ruins, some of the best things we saw were as they were when first built. Check the photo album if you don't believe me.
