What is a Catchment:

A catchment is an area in which all water runoff flows to a common point. A catchment can be likened to a basin, where the high points of the catchment, such as hills and ridges, are the edges of the basin. Water poured anywhere in the basin will find its way to the low point of the basin. In a catchment, the low points may be a stream, creek, lake or river.
