Competition and rivalry aside, the entire Malaysia Airlines World Sport Kite Grand Prix '96 was pure razzle dazzle and the grand finale was simply mesmerizing.
With eyes glued to the sky, standing ovations were order of the day for scintillating performances at the Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinablu, Sabah.
And soaring above all was the reigning world champs Team Skydance who retain their title beating 10 other teams all of whom gave breathtaking performances that captivated the 7000-strong crowd. The Britons garnered 75.81 points.
Second in the World Sport Kite GP was France's Team Lung Ta (69.2 pts) followed by Germany's Fun Unlimited (67.65 pts).
In the International Rokkaku second event, top placing was won by Azahar Abdul Halim (Malaysia), and second and third spots by Hal Quin (Malaysia) and Pierre Millet (France) respectively.
This World Sport Kite GP attracted 19 international and 17 national teams and the media, especially the foreign press who will leave Sabah with nothing but pleasant memories.
