ASSIGNMENT NO.
8
One of the marvels of the WWW is the quick access to a wealth of information. Former students who are in public education as well as private enterprise frequently call me asking for geographical information. With the advent of the Internet this is readily available. Throughout the semester you have been exposed to several sources of information pertaining to Latin America,
especially Galileo, Miami Herald, CNN, and other sources linked on Good's Home Page. For Assignment #8 assume that you need quick information on Brazil. Assume that you may be a business traveler, a vacationer, a student doing a research paper on Brazil, a Model UN student, a teacher preparing a
lesson plan, a travel agent, a diplomat, a Peace Corps volunteer, a newspaper reporter, or whatever position you want to assume.
Tell what your assumed position is and find five (5) really good sites on Brazil that pertain to your position. For example, you may be going on a business trip to Brazil, say, for example, IBM, and need to find out more about IBM operations in Brazil, IBM marketing opportunities in Brazil, etc. Or maybe you are a teacher needing a unit on current events in Brazil. Or,as a traveler, you might need to find one of the sites from Weather Channel where lists international weather.
Find five sites and do the following for each site:
(1) Identify the URL, and summarize the site in some detail.
(2) How good was this site in providing information
(3) Would you recommend this site to other persons in a similar assumed position. Explain why or why not.
