Return to Good's Geography Page.
1. Do three (3) things for each of the two topics:
(1) Title, http address, summary of site (abstract)
(2) Relate to course and concepts discussed, i.e. multiple-use
(3) Opinion--good, bad, why, etc.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and click on "Fire" and find a site of interest and
2. Do same as in #1 above.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and click on "Directory". Click on Forest Service Directory. Go to Region 8--Southern Region. Find my sister-in-law, Elizabeth Estill and:
3. Write down stuff about her--especially her title, etc.
--Go on down the long list of positions below her name and:
4. List the job titles or positions (i.e. landscape architecture, mining
law and geologic service, hydrology and cooperative watersheds) The reason
for this is to see what personnel in the forest service do and more about
this multiple-use idea. I think I heard my sister-in-law say that she has
4000 employees working under her. Also some of you might be interested in
working for the USFS one day.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and click on "Directory" and click on
"Description of National Forests by Name" or National Forests by State" and
pick a forest that interests you and:
5. Which one did you pick. Briefly describe the forest relating to the
multiple-use idea.
--Go back to the USFS Home Page and click on "Research" and click on any
research topic and:
6. What was it? Give title and summarize research topic and relate to
class especially the multiple-use concept.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and "Other FS Sites" (ie Tall Timbers Research"
or Great Outdoor Recreation Pages (GORP) or National Forest Recreation
Association, etc.) and :
7. Find one you are interested in and give title, summarize, relate as before.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and click on "Human Resources" and just look
over Job Opportunities.
--Go back to USFS Home Page and click on anything and:
8. (1) Title and summary
(2) Relate to class
(3) Opinion
