Dear Madam, dear Sir, dear children and youngsters, thank you very much for helping endangered species. This help is greatly appreciated at a time, when, just before the turn of the century a better future should lie ahead of us where humans respect other life forms increasingly. Until March 2000 it is our goal to have collected over 10 million signatures world-wide against the exploitation of wildlife. It is a petition to the United Nations (UNEP). Mr. Klaus Töpfer, our former minister of the environment, is now head of the UNEP in Nairobi. Therefore the chances are good of obtaining a trade ban for elephants and their products again. Your signatures are also being used to try and get the young elephants which have been put into the zoos of Dresden, Erfurt and Basel back into the wild. The legendary Mrs. Sheldrick has been carrying out such projects for 40 years in Kenya, actively supported by the AgA for the last ten years. Ivory trade being possible again poaching has resumed in the African national parks. This is also due to the South African states, which have been demanding the elephant trade for many years and buying states like Germany and Japan who incite such killings of animals and humans. Already at the 9th CITES conference in Florida, three years ago, the AgA was able to keep the trade ban for elephants thanks to 6 million signatures. Lately, however, the South African states managed to lift that ban. Help us, financially too if you can, because we need to save nature. We are also looking for active members of every age to add to our political strength. Help us convince others that saving species means saving mankind! Thank you for your help.
