We were on the BI cottage. We were about 10 kilometres from Oslo centre
and about 30 kilometres around was forest. Sure, because Oslo is really
in the forest. That's great and therefore (but not only for that) like
this town. Actually, Oslo is my most favourite town after Prague (although
it is not possible to compare these two towns). In Oslo it takes only
fifteen minutes to go from the centre to Holmenkollen, to the great symbol
of the town. On Holmenkollen you could have marvellous panoramic view
of whole Oslofjord. But more important for most Norwegians is, that there
is a ski jump and cross country skiing stadium. Down in Oslo (I don't
dare to say in downtown, but from Holmekollen it looks like this), so,
down in Oslo you can find many interesting things and some of them are
on these pictures.

The town hall is the first thing you can see when you
enter Oslo through the Oslojord. On the right hand side you can see
the sunset at 3pm during Christmas 1999 over the Oslofjord. |

On of the best things in Oslo is Frogner park. There
are sculptures from Gustav Vigeland, who devoted hundreds of sculptures
to one topic - to Life. Impressive. |

The best museums, you could find in Oslo, are on Bygdøya
penninsela. You can get there from the harbour by the boat (only in
summer) but it is not the one on the left. That is RA II, the boat
of Thor Heyrdahl |
