This is the most recent, as well as the most expensive, addition to my airsoft collection. I was very reluctant to buy a gas gun, having read about the tedious matienance, and not looking forward to the prospect of ahving to buy gas in order to operate my gun. But whileit had been easy enough to ignore them when buying from web sites, when I saw this guy in a local paintball store, it was all over.
Appearance The gun is very nice looking in my opinion. No trademarks on it, and the muzzle is painted orange, but that doesn't bother me that much. There is quite a bit of metal on it. the trigger, rear sight, slidelock, hammer, guiding rod, slide rail, and magazine are all metal. The slide, while not being metal is very sturdy feeling, and feels almost like metal. The grip is not quite as convincing, but still feels very sturdy. On the slide, the gun has markings saying "Compact 9x19" and the ejection port is, of course opening. Also, this gun is heavy. I haven't weighed it but it feels very close to the real thing.
Performance This is, of course, where my reviews are rather weak. I haven't chronoed it, but if I get a chance I'll post it. I use those crappy UHC blue BBs, which aren't heavy or light enough, and the gun jams every now and then. When I use the BBs that came with it though, it operates fine. The blowback is very nice. You can feel it shudder down your forearm. The only other GBB (Gas Blowback) I've fired is the Omega M93R, so I don't have much to compare it too, but it feels very nice and gives a kick. I point shoot. So the accuracy is unbeknowest to me. When I want to hit something though, usually a man sized target, I can hit it. the range and accuracy are a little diminished though due to the short barrel. I can usually get 3-4 magazines full of BBs (16 rounds each) for each refill. I use Omega Green Gas, The rate of fire is impressive, as fast as you can pull the trigger.
Negative There are a couple negatie aspects to this gun. A little part of my slide rail broke. Doesn't affect the performance, but it affects the looks. Irrelevant though, as it was probably my fault. Another problem is the slide lock and catch. Since the lock is metal and the slide is plastic, the catch is beginning to wear down a little. This may prove a problem in time as it may keep the slide from locking, Also, I burst an pressure seal once. i was able to repair it, but it was a pain. One of my mag malfunctioned as well, so I bought a new one. Now the one which was broken is working again, so I have two. Bonus.
Price I bought mine for $110 from a Paintball store, marked down from $140. The latter seems to be standard. I picked up a spare mag for $39.99 from Shorty USA, and they were quite obliging. This is a great, compact, starter pistol for a pretty low price. If you like the looks, go for it. |
