Hogan Blaming WCW Youth on bad WCW ratings?

Rick Scaia of Wrestleline.com reported that Hulk Hogan did a recent radio interview for a Madison Wisconsin radio station where the hosts enquired as to why Hogan thought the ratings for Nitro, specifically the main event involving him and Sid were so low.

Hogan replied saying that that quarter hour began with Shane Douglas, Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko and Perry Saturn which was enough to kill any potential viewers for the rest of the show, and that they would never get time in that slot again on Nitro. Tis indeed sickening to think Hogan would actually make such comments to cover his own ass.

- That golfball sized knot on the back of Goldberg's head didn't come from the snow shovel that Sid hit him with on NITRO. The shovel caused a small cut on Goldberg's back, but the knot on his head was caused when Rick Steiner flipped him over the dumpster in the back. Goldberg landed on his upper back, but his head smacked hard on the floor and caused a nasty cut and the resulting huge knot on his head. Goldberg received medical attention from WCW's trainer, and was allowed to continue with the main event match.

- Look for Vampiro to make appearances at upcoming Insane Clown Posse concert shows. The grouping of Vampiro, ICP, and Raven is getting over with the fans. The group is considering what to call themselves. The "Dead Pool" seems to be the most likely choice at this time.

- Ric Flair was not on NITRO last night because he is still in Japan. Flair will be returning this week, and will be back for next week's show.

- Kanyon will only be working NITRO's and PPV's the next few months. Kanyon will be working to coordinate the wrestling portion of the new WCW/Warner Brothers movie starring David Arquette.

- Don't be surprised if Chad Brock does more than sing a song to two next week on NITRO. Brock trained with WCW with the idea of becoming a wrestler that was also a country singer. The thinking at the time was that the wrestling would help him out as a singer. It worked out the other way around. Brock had a handful of matches with WCW, including his final match against Sgt Buddy Lee Parker where he was bounced around pretty good by the Sarge.

- Apparently the name 'Excalibur' has been seen in some Wrestlemania 2000 [video game] screen shots. Back in May, rumors of Jericho using the name 'Excalibur' were seen. Tyler K let me know that you can view the movie and screen shots at VIDEOGAMES.COM.

- Reader KKICielo let me know Rena Mero is scheduled to appear on Off the Record. He appearance will come Thursday, August 5th. Take that as a rumor until any official word is released.

- Flipping through the latest issue of Time Magazine and see Rena Mero at the back. The article explains how her lawsuit with the WWF has been settled. It goes on to say she can't sign with a company for three years and no parties are speaking about the suit in a financial way. Her being the only woman to appear on the cover of Playboy twice in one year is mentioned as well. Towards the end, it says Rena is working on a deal with KISS' Gene Simmons. She may play female warrior 'Red Sonja' in a television series.
