The Terrible Three![]() [Back] The Ride The Terrible Three, or the event formerly known as the Triple Crown*, was a one-of-a-kind bike ride in the quest for vertical feet. The goal was to summit the three highest peaks in the bay area in 1 day. The mountains of interest are Mt. Hamilton (4212' elev.), Mt. Diablo (3849' elev.) and Mt. Tamalpais (2571' elev.). These hills are not exactly next to each other, so some driving would be involved as well. The approach was to summit them in the order listed above, driving south to north (and west) in the process. Hamilton would be the longest ride with the most gentle grade, Diablo the steepest and Tam in the middle somewhere. The stats are as follows (driving miles not tallied):
[* The name "Triple Crown" was already taken by some other wussies who think that riding 3 double-century rides in a season is a big deal. Whatever. Our event is cooler. Anyway, Judbert gets creativity points for renaming this with its new moniker.]
