Here follows an interview with Tuomio, the soon to be legendary hardcoreband from Enköping, an almost as legendary town... the interview was done at a pub in Örsundsbro, where the band actually lives... Answers by Juhani (j) and questions By Absence Of Mind (AOM).
OK... letīs start with a really standard question, age, position in band and favourite stimulantia...
j- hmm i donīt know really... I play all the instruments on my own, Iīm closing in to my twenties and I like french papier a lot, even though itīs hard to get hold of, so I usually use the standard brown...
How has the demo sold so far?
j- Ok, I guess. I think I have printed about a hundred copies of it. Fanhelvete records seem to be quite satisfied with the results. (yea, itīs one of the best selling demos in our history, in competition with the Poolhouse Massacre demo /AOM) There are also some plans from the company to make a 7" vinyl together with another band, Confused Bastards, an all star crust group with members from Råskit, D.O.L, legion of parasites and Aparat, the famous hc-band from uppsala...
People say that you are a loser, and that you donīt even care about veganism anymore...
j- I really donīt care what people think... Loser..? well, that depends on how you define loser, I guess I am a loser in a way, for example: I donīt identify with society and I do my very best to stay outside of it... but itīs hard. I like to drink alcohol every once in a while, but hey, if that makes me a loser, feel free to call me one... Atleast I have some fun on my way to the grave. I really cant see myself wasting my life in some debate over how others should live theirs... Just look at some of the straight edge and the PC-Punk-Police people. They donīt do much, instead they complain over other peoples lazyness, there just isnīt any constructivity here in sweden... That is why I have given up the hope for a change. Too much in-fighting as itīs called...
Donīt you find anything positive in the swedish punk / hc scene, cause after all youīre playing in Tuomio and some other bands. Isnīt there anything good with that?
j- well... I play in these bands mainly because I love the music, and I love what used to be the spirit of punk... namely understanding and communication amongst the punks, but also between the punx and the straight edgers... there used to be som kinda understanding between them. I remember when I was about fourteen and got in contact with the whole thing, that I really liked the people because they were always nice and helped out in different ways. But I canīt really say that this is the case nowadays... itīs not often you find a nice crustie unless you look like one yourself or a straight edger and so on... I donīt understand this hate. So I have almost chosen to stand outside the Swedish punk-scene and tried to make contacts outside sweden, where it is a very different attitude amongst the D.I.Y movement...
thatīs right, fuck all the kings and queens of crust... Are there any nice bands from your area you like to listen to?
j- Not really... but Iīm not sure, ever since we got evicted from our rehearsal, due to some idiot motherfucker from stockholm :) I havenīt heard the other bands there... But I must say I like Hunnypal, a pop-band with a bunch of nice people in it... I hate Enköping and Örsundsbro musicians.. But hey, wait, I forgot Extended Play 95 (used to be called Divinity /AOM), theyīre really good, they play everything from sweet pop to really brutal Counterblast crust, and thatīs cool. Those people are also really nice. There isnīt any P.C-police attitude in this town which is great... Maybe thatīs why NORP is moving here hehehe...
You say you were evicted...? what happened...?
j- Well, it all started out as the regular chaos weekend with hulkarslet and pilsnerheng from my old suburb Älta in stockholm... We had plans on recording the Snutjävlar 7" (it will be released by victory records...!/AOM) so we had decided not to be sober during the whole weekend...that was no good choice...well, we managed not to be sober for a minute during the three days that passed... but that resulted in a wall that was kicked into atoms... and there was shit all over the place and our rehearsal was filled with pissfilled beer cans with a really disgusting smell from them... Then came the owner and saw the misery... "you wonīt be here for long" he said and kicked me out from the place, with debts up to my ears... fuck... and the recording was a really bad thing, but we mixed it pretty ok, so the 7" will be out soon.
