English Hand Signal Guide

[back to Stupidity-Rage]

I bet you were wondering what those hand signals mean.  Here is my interpretation based on the drivers giving them, culture, and clues from car positioning etc.

Waving - I know you!  I will cease external concentration and input until you wave back.
Flashing lights (narrow street) - While not strictly a hand signal, this can cause confusion.  It can mean: I am going first.  You go first.  I just bumped that control, ignore my randomness.
Flashing lights (motorway) - If worried looking:   My wife is pregnant and I do not wish afterbirth on the carpet and fake walnut veneer.  If scowling:  I have severe diarrhea, please let me pass to attend to this.
Index and middle fingers extended from clenched fist - I am about to pick both my nostrils, please beware of random lane changes.
Middle finger extended from clenched fist - I have a very small penis, it is about this big.
Fingers curled forming a hollow tube, hand raised and lowered multiple times - My arm is spasming, I may accidentally tailgate you for some distance.  Please brake sharply to remedy my fit.
Fist raised, other hand on bicep - I have lost control of this vehicle, please call 999.
Slaps own head - My brain has malfunctioned (General Protection Fault 0x15731b173), I am applying "head CPR" to restart.

If you decipher anything useful please email me.
